About Us

The Gage Mansion was commissioned by Colonel George F Gage, superintendant of the Huntingdon and Broad Top Railroad in 1896.  Blueprints were drawn by George Barber, a prominent architect of Victorian homes.  Dozens of Barber's painted ladies remain across the country and are listed on the Register of Historic Places just like ours.

Ornate woodwork remains in the three story staircase, pocket doors, and six fireplace mantels.  Many stained glass windows are showcased throughout the home as well.  Original light fixtures in the living room, parlor, hall, and stairway adorn these bright and airy spaces.

The Thompsons purchased the home in 2014 and set about restoring the property to a cheerful, inviting destination.  Six en suite bathrooms were added featuring carrerra marble tile floors and shower surounds.  The suite at the end of the second floor hall was rebuilt.  It had been opened up for use as a kitchen by a previous owner.  The decor in our seven guest rooms and large first floor public spaces respects the detail its builders loved while embracing modern, light colors and comfortable furnishings.

Escape for a while in this grand, historic home nestled in downtown Huntingdon amidst the lush Allegheny Mountains.
